The Royal National Lifeboat Institution - Saves Lives at Sea

Kinghorn RNLI Lifeboat volunteers will host their annual Open Day this Saturday, 13th July, and everyone is invited!

The Open Day – the highlight of the fundraising calendar in Kinghorn – will begin at 12pm and feature a number of attractions including stalls, amusements and a rescue demonstration by the lifeboat and a RAF helicopter.

Lifeboat Press Officer, Neil Chalmers continued, ‘This annual event is a fantastic day out for the whole family. We have many of our usual stalls this year, as well as popular attractions including beach games, emergency services, model boats and a yellow welly throwing competition. We’ll also welcome back Newfoundland rescue dogs after their amazing demonstration last year.

‘We will also welcome the RAF to the Kinghorn Open Day for the first time in many years with a demonstration between the lifeboat and the RAF’s yellow search and rescue Seaking helicopter, subject to operational requirements.

‘The weather is looking great for the weekend, and the warm weather is to continue. It’ll be a great day to come to the beach and help raise money for the RNLI.

‘The RNLI is a charity which is totally reliant upon donations from the public, but instead of just putting money in a tin, your whole family can enjoy themselves, have a great day at the beach, whilst learning more about the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and supporting us and the service the volunteers provide.’

The fundraising committee are also looking for plants and good quality bric-a-brac to help raise funds for the RNLI. These can be handed in to the boathouse on Friday night or Saturday morning before 10am.

We hope to see as many people there as possible!
