 Red Flare(s)

Shout Number 39/2011

Date/Time: 27/12/2011 11:15 - 12:40

Called to Musselburgh for a Red Flare(s)

People Assisted: 0

The lifeboat was launched following reports of two red flares being sighted in the Cockenzie/Musselburgh Area.
A search was carried out of the area between Cockenzie and Fisherrow, north-westwards to Inchkeith Island by the Kinghorn lifeboat. Royal Navy rescue helicopter R177 also took part in the search with several Coastguard Rescue Team's on the shore.
Search conditions were excellent. Forth Coastguard suspended the search when nothing was found in the area, and classed the shout as a false alarm with good intent.
