 Vessel Stranded

Shout Number 21/2015

Date/Time: 31/07/2015 14:10 - 17:30

Called to Inchkeith Island for a Vessel Stranded

People Assisted: 0

A yacht ended up adrift with its engine running and sails up after its sole occupant was knocked overboard near Inchkeith.

The casualty managed to swim to the Island where he flagged down a passing pilot vessel. The lifeboat was requested to recover the yacht. It was taken back to Burntisland in moderate west winds where it was safely tied up in the harbour.

Fortunately the sailor was wearing a lifejacket and was able to swim for around 30 minutes to safety.
