Called to Port Seton for a Person Missing

People Assisted: 1

The lifeboat launched to investigate a report from the fishing vessel ‘Saltire’, of an abandoned kayak 3 miles off Port Seton. The lifeboat was tasked by Aberdeen to carry out an area search along with local fishing vessels.

Around 1830 RAF helicopter 'Rescue 131' was requested to proceed to a report of a person in the water and recovered the reported person and conveyed him to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Meanwhile the ILB continued its search pattern in the area of the kayak. No further persons were found and the ILB was returned to station.

It was later confirmed that the casualty did not survive.
